What do with a hydraulic motor?

OK guy lets see if we can find me a winter project to do with this hydraulic motor its a Char-Lynn 101-1032-005 its 22.6cu its bolted up to a what I guess is a planetary gearbox

I need to clear out my bench at work and its sitting there so lets find a project.

Also go one of these 24v electric transaxles from a scooter to find a project for

Im building a PHD out of an old gear box like that. It was the swing motor off an old Cat excavator I think. the big motor was bad but I made an adapter from plate metal to make an adpter to another orbit motor. I gotta get the Fairfield Torque hub shaft drilled for my shear pins.

I have the identical motor that you have. My plan is to use my log splitter hydraulics to power the motor. I will be attaching a blade (BUZZ SAW) this will give me the advantage of splitting the bigger wood. And cutting the smaller branches into stove size pieces.
I built my log splitter and think I have the capacity to run a saw. Right now I have a small buzz saw on a stand. I want both together.

A friend of mine has an old Case 444 tractor with a hydraulic tiller attachment. By throwing a lever he can switch from forward to reverse tine rotation. I thought that was pretty cool. Based on what I saw of your blade build, I bet you could use that motor to create an awesome Frankentiller.

Specs show that to be a LOW PRESSURE motor. 1250 psi continuous. Most tractors put out 2000-2500 psi. Don't forget to take that into account or it will be a problem for sure.

I think that is a brake on the bottom of the motor not a gear box that is the same type that we have on a lot of our equipment the small line on the left is to release the brake.

I took it apart and it was a brake! it Also was a block of rust inside, and since the motor is low pressure I'm going to clean it and cut it down for a model that one of the professors can use in class. Still thinking about the transaxle but I might have something done my monday :thumbsup:

Dont chop that motor, just put a flow control or presure contro valve on it. We use them all the time on hydraulic steering units and some winches. Also whats the the Max intermittant pressure that it can be used with/ I know for a PHD or other application thats used intermitantley it could still be used.

I always thought it would be cool to build a "walking floor" for my flat bed trailer so I could unload firewood or mulch off the back. You could use the motor to power a roller that would wind up a heavy tarp such as the material used as road underlayment. By folding the tarp over on itself it would pull on a slick surface.
