I had an issue with water in my diesel which was covered under a different post. I was left with 50 gallons of diesel in a barrel that probably had some level of water contamination.

So I bought a fancy Mr. Funnel and pulled my pump up a bit. Added some additives and hoped for the best. I knew that the last fill up would be water logged so I was prepared.

So on my last 10 gallons I started to pump into mr funnel. Red dye looking good then a large patch of clear liquid I assume is water. Well, I get all excited to see water sitting in mr filter and it isn't. Mr filter is draining out. into my fuel tank. No clear liquid. So I let the tractor sit and in the am disconnect he fuel line and pour out until I see pink diesel. the liquid appears to be water but I cannot tell. Smells like diesel but does not feel like it.

So was it some of the anti water additives that let it get passed mr funnel or is mr funnel a 40 dollar joke? I would say that it was at least a quart of water that went into the filter in one go. And I had put in 32. Oz of water remover and 32 oz of conditioner in the 50 gallon master.

Carl.

This is what I derived from the mr funnel web site.

It appears that if you mix the water absorbers in the fuel, and then pour, you will allow some water to pass.

Excerpt.

• Test funnel before each use. Add water to funnel to cover bottom 1/3 of filter. Water should not pass through.
• Fuel additives and stabilizers may allow water to pass through filter. Add additives directly to tank.

I have used Mr Funnel and had water left in the funnel after use.

I wouldn't use a water remover and Mr. Funnel- I suspect it helped allow the water to pass through, as you speculate.

If you have alot of contamination, I also suggest running the fuel through the filter slowly- if it flows too fast, you don't get a separation layer.
