I just changed the hydro fluid, 2nd time, and am having some problems.

I changed it at 50hrs, no problems, the only difference now (200 hrs) is while changing I replaced a quick-attached that had been leaking ever since I had the backhoe installed..

I can go forward and reverse, curl the bucket and lift and lower the fel while curling, but I can't lower or raise the 3-point, nor the fel straight up or down.

I'd guess that I have air in the lines, but working the fel and 3-point for the last hour and a half isn't working.

L3400 hst.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I would try unhooking and re hooking you quick disconects.

Agreed.

Any air should work through the system in short order.

Would think it must have something to do with the connector you replaced??

Is there anything else you touched other than drain plugs filters, fluid and connector?

Good luck,
Joel

I agree check the QD, you are not getting a complete circuit.

Yep, that was it. The qd appeared seated but wasn't.

Any possibility of any damage to the pump? I noticed that the filters got extremely hot last night.

All flow was going through a relief valve so that would have heated up the system. The pump got a workout but it should have been protected.

If operating a hydraulic valve seems to reduce the load on the engine it is a clue that the loop is blocked downstream.

Should I replace the fluid and filters again? Any chance they got cooked?

Thanks guys for all the help.

I dont see how you could have cooked the fluid in that short of a time span but I am no expert

As others said.. flow was against relief pressure.. really worked the system over if you ran her tha way for half an hour.. 'm sure the relief valve wasn't thrilled about it.

good luck.

well.. now that oil's thermally broke in just like it's been there in use for a long time.. ;)

I guess that's a hint to change the fluids and filters, huh?
