Just came from a client who deals in used vehicles. While waiting for our meeting, I paged through an auto industry mag.

Headline read something like "GM Plans Continued Expansion in China".

Currently GM spends about $3 Billion buying parts from China, the majority of which are used in it's facilities in China.

By 2009, GM plans to spend $10 Billion in China, $4 Billion of which will be for parts to go to non-Chinese factories and the remaining $6 Billion will be for parts to be used in GM's Chinese facilities.

China's got it figured out. You can have people, weapons and technology, but it's manufacturing that builds nations into real powerhouses.

This is not a knock on GM--every company is doing this. It's more a concern for OUR future as this trend continues.
