Well, I did go back and buy the 3220D that I was looking at, and brought it home this evening. It even came with a service manual in English! But all the labels are still in Japanese...

It does have one minor issue that I need to fix right away and that is a leaky coolant bypass hose, here:

I know better than to walk into the Yanmar dealer and ask for this part using my model number, and it looks like the kind of thing that I could make up with regular hose and fittings, but assuming I want the original part, how do I go about getting this from my nearby dealer? What US model is the same that I can use when ordering? Is there a Deere that uses this exact same engine that I could ask for?

Now I need to find a 5' brush hog somewhere nearby so I can get all this tall grass knocked down!

I would probably take it down to an auto parts store and see if they would try and match it. From my reading experience the grey markets and us models have considerable differences. Not saying radiator hoses are different but without a part manual for both models that would be hard to determine. Maybe someone on here has first hand experience. Yanmar tractor support had a recent post of a man looking for an FX26d hose. His outlets were 1-1/8" and the flex hoses at the auto store were 1-1/4". I think he was going to try clamping down on it. Congratulations on your new tractor!

Where do you have a Yanmar dealer that you can get parts from?????

I meant to add also:

Not too familiar with the bigger yannies but looks like a 336 would be "close" american cousin. But there are different part numbers listed for the upper hose so......

But if you do a google for 3220 upper radiator hose, you do get several options and it's pretty reasonable. The suggestion to try a close match at a auto parts store if probably a good idea also.

Good luck.

Well guys it is pretty early sunday morning for me!!! Disregard my previous two posts. I misread bypass hose for radiator hose. Duh!!!!

But I did do a search for the coolant bypass hose and according to my google, the 3220 coolant bypass hose is the same as US models 195, 240 and 330. Also its the same for greys 2000 and 3220 among others. Pretty reasonable price too.....

I would personally buy from hoye. They sponsor this forum and are great guys that dont care where your yanmar came from!

sorry i do not know the model to go to the dealer, but like i said i would buy from hoye, shipping is fairly quick with UPS. Unless you have to have it that day i would just order, his prices are way cheaper than a JD dealer and you dont have to worry about higher yanmar parts prices and the nose stuck up at you if you slip your model #. But seing as it is just a bad weep i would order a laundy list of stuff from Hoye including any hydro filters a 3 pack of oilfilters and orings Lynch pins chains and that hose that you need and get one shipment to help make shipping not as bad on you. These items from him will be as cheap as local and you can sit at the PC and not have to burn $3.50/gas running all over town. If your like me and many of us one trip to town can add up to be almost $7 plus an hour of driving. Its worth it to me to ship these days.

I tried the Hoye site, but they did not have this hose listed under the cooling section for 3220D parts. Plus I would like to get this thing going right away, as I have work to do with it, and have to go to town tomorrow anyway. I will probably end up ordering it online, and fixing it in the meantime with auto parts store hose. I may need to get other stuff from the Deere dealer, and I don't want them to be all wierd with me. I do intend to stop by there tomorrow and see what they want for a brush hog.

Towns where there are tractor parts are nearly 45 minutes in either direction, but I can get to a NAPA in only 10 miles.

Thanks, all!

You need to call Hoye and talk to them. They may have it just not have it listed. There are a bunch of items they have and not list them for waht ever reason. Just call them, there easy to talk to and can tell you in a minute weather they have it or not.

thanks; I just sent them an email, and asked them to add it to my order of manuals and fuel filters.
