and made a few bucks off of it. It was a Leinbach L-7200 that I bought about 15 years ago. I would say I got my money's worth out of it!! The reason I sold it was because I came across a deal on craigslist 5 weeks ago on a very nice L-7300 model for $220! You might recall I had a thread on here about that buying one. Didn't need two PHD's, but I just hated to pass up an opportunity on a great deal. I got $425 for the one I sold today, but I only paid $365 for it, but now that was about 15 years ago. Inflation, you know? I replaced the oil seal on it last weekend because it was leaking, that was an $11 dollar part ordered directly from Leinbach. Got it the new oil seal installed, topped it off with new 90wt gear oil, put in a new grade 2 shearbolt, and it was ready to go to a new home. The guy who bought it had never used a PHD before, so I gave him all the advice I could on it, and I really STRESSED being careful about not letting anyone near it when it was rotating.
What was crazy was that he was from NC, but he works for NCR. I worked for them back in the 80's & 90's. He knows a guy I was good friends with back then too (who still works for them there at the Columbia support center), so I asked him to say hello to my old friend. Just bizarre how it's a small world after all, and the buyer lived in another state but he happened to know someone I used to work with so many years ago. It was meant to be, lol.
For for my next trick, I'm planning to go look at a red 3pt 6ft cultipacker in the morning that popped up on CL today. Asking price is $375!!! Cultipackers are not very easy to come by around here, especially at such a good price. The neat thing about this one is that it has 4 adjustable rippers on the front of it, I never have seen one like that before. If I get it, I'll post some pic's tomorrow afternoon. Wish me good luck!
