After much research and at least a dozen test drives of all the different brands in our area, I bought a gently used Kubota KX121-3S Saturday. Delivery should be sometime this coming week.
I was actually looking for a smaller mini-excavator, something my Chevy 2500HD could easily haul. But the smaller models can't handle the sort of loads I need to carry. While test driving Bluto, I reached over and effortlessly picked up a one ton chunk of granite. Even with the load suspended over the side at max reach, the unit was stable as could be. And in the end that's what sold me.
So Bluto joins the L4630HST at the Boondox spread, though I'll need to figure out some way to keep him safe from the elements.
