NH TN65
Hey all,
i have a NH TN65 with 4 ag radial tires. recommendation is that you not drive alot on asphalt. am building a house and the site is about 15 miles from my rental, all back rural roads, no real traffic, but all paved. would like to avoid delivery expense and drive the tractor over, have a trailor for the implements. anyone think this would be to much wear on the tires that are not really made for paved road?
thanks
paul

I wouldn't worry about it.
Just watch your speed on bumps and stuff.

If your tractor has 4WD just make sure that you are in 2WD while on the blacktop.

I've found that most of my tire wear comes when I make a turn on pavement (I see the black tire marks). But if I go slow and make as wide a turn as possible, I don't get near the scuffing of the tire. In a straight line on pavement, I doubt if the wear is any different than on dirt. Just be sure to keep it out of 4WD on any pavement.

I had a similar problem when were building our house, we lived 12 miles from the property. For me it was very easy to decide to buy a trailer, and looking back I would not change a thing. Safety should be your primary concern, both for you and for others on the road. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

thanks for the feedback everyone.
Bubba, i do have a trailer, just doesn't accomodate the tractor, which weighs more than i can toe.

For what its worth...

A farmer that I knew had once told me that if he kept his tractor under 8MPH he never noticed any road wear, but if he went over 10 he could notice it over the year. Now, this is a guy that was meticulous on details and took measurements and such. He had to road his tractor often. It was a rather large Oliver.
