About how much does a 5ft box blade weigh? Im going to buy one from a friend and my truck is pretty high off the ground. Can two people put one in the back of a full sized pickup without killing their backs? I allready feel old enough.

My 66" BB weighs 830lbs. The 60" one I previously had weighed 510lbs.

Box blades will weigh different amounts depending on the manufacture and weather it is a light duty, med duty or heavy duty.

I just bought a Woods RB60 and I believe it is just shy of 300 pounds. My two teenagers and I unloaded by hand from my RAM 2500. No problems.

One in the bed holding the hitch end, two on the ground. Moved it off partially with the hitch end resting on the tailgate while my son got down and resumed his position - then lowered the rest of the way.

Could have done it with two of us - or by myself in my younger, macho days....:D

I would have to say 500lbs give or take 50lbs.

You get the same answer when you ask "How quick is a Mustang in the 1/4 mile?"

The answer is "how much you gonna spend?

My 66" is about 950".

The less expensive ones for light duty use are 300#. The lightest I've seen is about 250# and the heaviest is about 1200 with hydraulic cylinders to lower the scarifier bar.

Ken, you will receive many answers to this question, because as mentioned there is quite a range from the cheaper made units weighing around 300 pounds to the brand name units weighing around 450 pounds and up. You do have enough information however to establish an answer to the other question regarding 2 people lifting one into a pickup. ouch! my back hurts just thinking about it.

For the record RB60 is a rear blade, not a box blade.

I have a Woods GB60 box blade. It weighs 495 .lbs.

I bought a boom pole for these situations. It weights less than 100# and can pick-up most tractor attachments easily. If the guy has a tractor available, buy a boom pole for less than $100 and you will end up using it all the time. I love mine. Get some good chain too while you are at it.

I chain mine to the FEL lift it up and back my truck under and set it in or raise it up and drive the truck out from under the box blade.

I think he did say he had a boom lift, not real sure. Ill unload it at my house with the fel, so no problem getting it off the truck. If he does have the boom for the three point then thats the route we will take.

Thanks for the replies. Ken
