I often see mention of using a weight box to complement the FEL. I have never used one on my Max 25. I have hauled some fairly hefty loads of rock and full buckets of clay soil and have never lost traction or felt light in the rear end. Of course I have never weighed any thing More than one of these rocks has required bars to move them and a strap to hold them in. I have gotten air while breaking them out but not while carrying.

Is there any other reason for using a weight box or are folks just so accustomed to the other brand using them that it just a programed response to get one?

Are you saying Mahindra tractors don't need ballast weight to fully use the FEL??

If that is true, one of two things is happening. Number 1 being the FEL doesn't have the lifting capacity to bring the tractor to the point of unbalance. Number 2 being the operator just hasn't fully used the FEL yet.

The first would be unfixable. The second would require a weight box.

And will soon be needing a Front Axle.

I don't have a weight box "per se", but I have do rim-guard ballast and I can really tell the difference in lift capability when I have the (more cumbersome) 60" Rankin box on the 3 PT.

One wrong move and the FEL will easily bring my rear tires off the ground; perhaps flipping it over.

You beat me too it.... from what i know of a ballast, it's less about performance, more about longevity of the front end. Think seesaw... with no ballast the majority of the weight sits directly on the front wheels/axle. When you add weight off the rear of the tractor, that load is more evenly spread across all 4.

Said the guy with no ballast of his own....

Having ballast aft of the rear axle unloads some of the weight from the front axle.
Your tractor will thank you for doing this.
Some things to keep in mind when the rears start getting light (including under braking force):
<> Your front axle is probably getting overloaded, as others have mentioned.
<> You have almost no braking force in 2WD.
<> The front axle pivots, so you will have very little tipping stability on a side slope or soft soil.
Tire ballast & wheel weights will help keep the rears on the ground, but they won't reduce front axle loading.
So try to have something (anything) heavy on the 3ph whenever you're working with the FEL.

Mahindras are built strong than Kiotis. Look how much more they way. They can take some abuse.

Yea but Mahendra's weigh even more! And use cheap steel.
