I purchased a new farm last summer. The grass has been heavily hayed. I've let it grow up this year, trying to get some fertility and biomass back to some degree. I have succeeded!
There is a LOT of Johnson Grass over this farm, I've found.
The question I have is does anyone have experience with a Weed Wiper? The 'best ones' appear to be the ones utilizing a rotating brush, rather than carpet roller and/or sponge. At least from my research. But I don't see a USA manufacturer other than Smuckers (sponge) and Grassworks (carpet roller). While the 'brush' seems to make perfect sense to me, I have no real world experience with it and don't know how much 'better' the brush versions would actually be in comparison to a rotating carpet version.
I need something, as my pastures are going to be nothing BUT Johnson grass, if I don't come up with something. I haven't grazed it yet, and the cattle might keep it controlled to a degree. However, I will be rotationally grazing, and I know I can't graze all the Johnson Grass adequately for suppression, on my 130ac with only cows. So I am looking for some means to help suppress the Johnson grass while still preserving my other grass species.
