I have to ask this question... My dealer tracked down a 5030 for me, but it is coming from a dealer in the FL Panhandle. Later that evening I see a consumer alert news report about water damaged vehicles from the hurricane impacted areas being resold!!! Then my heart sinks, and I start to worry about a submerged tractor. So, I tell myself tractors are much hardier, but I know I should really check for something when it arrives.

What should I look for to tell if a tractor had been submerged in salt water? Where would the signs be?

Just trying to be an informed consumer....

Thanks,

Joe

I would check the usual things, look at wiring connectors for corrosion, water in any of the oil, axles, engine oil, hydraulic, etc.

I would guess most of the damage to an automobile would be in the interior and electronics. So check the seat cusion and make sure the gauges work, if it has a full warranty I wouldn't worry about it to much though.

Definitely check electrical connections. Ones that are rather hidden and not easy to clean.

I was curious about that myself. I actually wouldn’t mind one if it was cheap. Even if it had to be torn down wouldn’t bother me any. Best way to learn about a machine is take it apart.
