Hey yall I was given a free Ford 3000 (or so the stickers say) it has been sitting for 18yrs + or - a year or two seeing if anyone can give me a hand with making an id on it. I took pictures of all the numbers i could find on said tractor. let me know if more pics are needed will gladly take more tomorrow

What happened 18 +/- years ago that turned it into a lawn ornament?

I am thinking it is a 2000 but not sure the area where the serial number that i found does not look anything like those listed in the pic from tractor data.

i was told the tractor was started and the person went to grab their morning coffee from the shop and when said person returned it had stopped running when checked there was no oil on the stick so possible locked it self up not sure if this tractor would have a sensor like some of the newer engines to shut down when low on oil however i am currently going to school to become a diesel mechanic and work at a shop with several and already have one willing to help me out with the rebuild.

This may help. The third picture looks like the serial number described. If so it was made in the UK.

I might catch some flack for this but if it was mine and it's locked up the scrap monster would eat it. I might wait until after this steel tax deal because I expect scrap to go up.

No flack intended. The tractor will "part out" on Craigslist for 10 times scrap iron price. Someone right now is searching Craigslist for parts to do a restoration.

I like the old "honest" high quality tractors. Having said that, someone bought a massey for a few grand and it sits at my mechanic for various work. Mostly an engine overhaul and power steering work. They figure ten grand or so! It adds up quick.

I hope it works out for you. With some TLC and paint, it would be a nice tractor to have.

I’d try my luck doing that first but I haven’t had good luck parting out trucks. If it truly ran without oil until it seized there’s no way I’d fix it, but I’m sure someone else would.

I sold a pair of cast center spin out Ford rear wheels for $850 on CL, first caller, second day ad ran. Parts from these Ford tractors are in great demand.

Yeah, I'd hafta really be in heat over that particular model before I stuck more than a couple thousand into it. If he can make it move and function under it's own power without major expense he's wayyyyy ahead though since his purchase cost was so low.
