We are looking for a nice x728 that has a loader ,54 inch deck,and a front blade . Any one that may have one let us know . I have a 2007 2305 to trade for one that only has 100 hours on it as of today. It has a front 200cx loader also. Very nice compact and very claen well kept. Please email at murphy41@msn.com ,thanks

When I priced out the x728's, I thought they were more expensive than a 2305? I am sure that one with a loader, deck and front blade would be more expensive than a 2305 with a loader. I might be wrong, but I think your asking a lot for someone to trade you.

Why do you want to trade a real tractor for a garden tractor on steroids?
You already have the best machine for the least money?

It will be interesting to see how this works out, I suspect trying to find someone near you that want's to make the exact trade will prove difficult. I suspect you will get faster results trading in for what you wan't. Horse trading can be expensive though and I would make certain what I wanted for the next rodeo.
What I find most curious is wanting a riding mower with a fel on it, seems a little substandard to me. Downsizing from a 2305 is a little hard to imagine too, if you were to operate a fel you should have a rops IMHO.
All of this strengthens my opinion that it is better to have a dedicated riding mower, tlb and tractor.

You can buy a folding rops for your 2305. You can also swap tires. JC

Boy, this one's the can of worms... you've opened yourself up to a lot of questions. I've got to say, though, that after owning a 2305 myself, I can see it not being the right tractor for someone else as well, not to mention the people that have chimed up on this site admitting to its shortcomings only after owning it for a while.
My father-in-law has an x585 w/ FEL and it wasn't until I really looked at his property that I realized it's exactly the right tractor for him. Lots of steep hills that I'd never go on my 2305. But, being younger than him and thinking I know everything, I'd have gone right out to the Deere dealer and would have bought the 2305 if I were him because of all the extra stuff I thought it could do over and above an x-700. But, I'd be trading it right back in for one of those after mowing his sloped lawn!
Reading this post, I think of all of those people on this board that have traded up from an x-700 series to a 2305, so it doesn't seem so far-fetched to me.
But, as jenkinsph said... finding someone close to you that wanted that exact trade is highly unlikely. Not impossible. But, doubtful. If it were me, I'd go right to craigslist and try to sell my 2305 outright. After all, that's what I did and only lost $1000 in cash on the deal. It sold in 2 days. Hope you're able to find the right buyer and right x-700 to replace your current tractor.
