I want to get a set of R4's for my 4WD AC 5020. Anyone know of a web site with information on the tire sizes where I can figure out what size I need to get? I've searched a bit, sounds like I'll need rims too. Once I know the sizes I'd need I can start looking.

Thanks,
Monte

Your best bet is to find the specs for the tractor with R4s on it. You will need to maintain the same ratio between front and rear rolling radius or you'll be tearing things up in an expensive hurry. I would presume the same ratio applies whether you run R4s or R1s, but I won't guarantee it.

Yes, you will in all likelihood need rims, too. R4's are generally wider than R1's, have a different aspect ratio (height from rim to tread vs. width), and I think the beads are different, too.

There is a site that has lots of this stuff on it. Try doing a search for "Tractor Data" on one of the major search engines. Good luck. If all else fails, try a dealer parts department.

I think that info is in your owners manual.

I can almost guarantee that you will have to get new rims. When I was purchasing my M7040 I considered switching the R1s to R4s. When I found out that I would have to change the whole wheel and then recalibrate the speedometer I decided it wasn't worth it to me. The information is in my owner's manual. You may also try looking at some of the tire manufacturers ag tire sites. Good luck.

I've got an older tractor also, R-4 tires weren't offered, nor listed in my owners manual. The newer model to my deere 770 is the 790, but to change to R4 tires using the 790 recommendation I'd have to get new rims. Not a huge problem , but I did a bit of research, found R4 tire that would fit my R3 rims and were the proper mfwd front lead ratio.
The main concern is mfwd ratio and tire rolling circumference. I had to know what my tractors mfwd ratio was before I could be sure a proper front wheel lead ratio.First thing is find out your mfwd ratio. I have to believe that info is somewhere you can find it. With this info finding tires will be fairly easy, not so sure about ease of finding rims, however there are places that can fabricate the proper rims if you are willing to spend a little extra money.
One of the many things I checked out were other mfwd tractors with the same size and type tire mine had, and checked to see if R4's were an option with this other tractor. Even a tractor with mfwd and same R1's the ratio could be different enough that R4's that worked for this horse would be just out of range for yours..need to find your ratio. good luck

I agree wholeheartedly about making sure you get the right diameter match for front to rear aspect ratio - the mismatch that came on my tractor has cost me many hundreds of dollars in FWD repairs. I'm changing my rear tires next week when they come in, different size to correct my problem. Titan Tires has all the info. you need for all of their tires - diameters will be different at least slightly between manufacturers but their specs. ought to get you real close. Personally I like the Titan tires, my rear R4's have 5 years and over 1300 hours of heavy duty use and not 1 puncture yet (still have a week to go!!) I'm also putting new tires up front too, but the size is staying the same there. My guess is you'll really like the R4's, except for mud - not near as good as the R1's in mud.

I have a 5020-4wd, but unfortunately the owners manual I have is for a 5020-2wd. It is identical mechanically (only different sheet metal) to a Massey 210-4wd. Try contacting a M-F dealer for the info. My guess is that you probably can't get (or will have great difficulty getting) R-4 rims for these. Originally they only came with R-1 or Turf tires as the options. If I can assist in any other way (I also have a parts catalog, with supplemental sheets for 4WD from a Massey catalog) send me a PM.
