This is an easy one... ... Can anybody tell me if there is a Wallenstein dealer in the upstate (Albany-ish) area of New York, and if not, where is the closest one? I don't mind driving if I have to.

I'm really interested in the BX-42 Chipper, and wanted to check it out in person. Thanks

P.S. if anybody has one of these, please let me know what you think.

I have a BX-42 and am just east of Albany. I may have an interest in selling as I used it for 1 summer (clearing project) and have not used it much since. It is JD green if you are interested. It works well, but is not like a tow behind power chipper.

PIttsfield Lawn and Tractor PITTSFIELD LAWN & TRACTOR PITTSFIELD, MA (413) 443-2623 is closest dealer to Albany.

After you have looked at one and decided to get it , try ebay--Iowa Farm Equiptment Ebay stores, their prices INCLUDING delivery were $700 LESS than any dealer in the Denver Colorado area--no sales tax either!

This is a great chipper!!

I'm not sure where the closest dealer is, but can answer your other question. I have the wallenstein 42, and it is amazing at how good it does. It has the hydraulic, double feed rollers, and it will pull stuff into itself very well. I love the fact that I don't have to limb the branches most of the time. You will certainly not be disapointed.

ANDYMA,

I did look at the Valby. There is a dealer for those out in Utica NY, They seem pretty beefy, but a little pricey. In your opinion, does its quality warrant the price? I don't mind paying for quality.

SJCMBA,

I may be interested in buying (slightly) used. Color doesn't matter to me. Your chipper is green, my tractor is red, and Christmas is coming up!!! What kind of shape is your machine in, and what would you have to get for it?? You can send me a IM if you want.

P.S, Is Pittsfield Lawn And Tractor, the place on Route 20 just east of the New York Line? I think I've been in there for Snowmobile parts before.

Also, does anyone know anything about the Salsco (model 624)? That seems to be along the same lines as the Valby and Wallenstein.

I bought a BX42 last spring and I love it. It is simple, rugged and easy to service. Mine has produced over 15 yards of chips from pine and fir without a problem. I run it with 20 shaft HP. I looked at several others including Jima (more belts than a 67 Caddy) and Bearcat (not as rugged) and nothing else came close as far as I was concerned.

I have the BX62, don't think you can go wrong with Wallenstein. I ended up buying from a local dealer, but the guys at Iowa Farm Equipment are very nice and helpful.

I'd be interested in the chipper. What are you asking? Not to jump in the middle...
