Has anyone tried to mount a walk behind snow blower to the front of a lawn tractor say on a shelf tied down and just keep the auger spinning by clamping down on the handle that engages the snow auger. the chute could be operated by a remote reach rod. Counter weights on the back of the tractor to offset all that weight in the front. I tried to find a u tube video or anyone who has tried this??? Is it really that hard to imagine? why pay $1000.00 or more for a complicated bolt on unit that runs off the tractors engine, when the walk behind model could be used on the tractor on a shelf and easily removed for its regular use in areas that the tractor could not fit.

Leave the wheels on/replace wheels with skids and push it. Maybe with some steel from the rear Axel forward. Then there is no need for a counter weight (you will need weight for traction though). If you could find an old blade kit or non working snow blower made for the tractor you would have the under carriage you need.
I will be doing something similar with a leaf blower and DR brush cutter.

I think it would involve too much reworking. Why not leave the walk behind blower intact. There are several vids on youtube. One person built an seperate engine powered blower on the front of a proper backhoe. It did work but it appeared very front heavy.
The hydraulic blowers that mount on the front of artic loaders really blow well, but that is another class of machine.
If you wanted to tractor mount your blower I would suggest you put it on the rear because you will gain the weight and traction at the same time, rear blowers are hard on the neck thou.

Why complicate matters ?? A neighbour had a 4 feet wide, commercial Toro walk behind mower. He picked it up really cheap because nobody wants to walk behind such thing. But he simply attached a simple axle with a seat on it, thus making an articulated unit, steered by pushing the standard steering handles aside. Cant be simpler than that, it doesnt stress your tractor, nor your neck, and its very agile in tight spots.
It was based on this principle: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMMC5hfILyg&feature=related[/ame] just with a decent seat and footrest. These things seem to be popular in Eastern Europe.

Don't mount it to a tractor. Do as I did with an Ariens snow blower (1128) just put a sulky behind it. I put 100# of barbell weights on the front to keep it from riding up. There were 2 holes already in it, I think for the chute tool. I just took a 4 by 4 and shaved it down so it rode level when at rest. Then I drilled 2 holes in the 4 by 4 to accept 1 inch dowels. on each dowel I had 2 25# weights. Worked great till you had to turn around. Sulkys can be had off of E-bay for aroung $130 or sometimes you find them on craigslist.
