For the last week or so we have been waking up to these feathered creatures clucking away in out back yard. I don't mind them being around. But I do mind waking up at 5-5:30 am to clucking. In the picture there are 2 large hens and 5 little ones. They are part of the 20 or so turkeys that have been roosting in our pines for the last couple of weeks. I'm starting to feel like I live in a zoo. I'm thinking "Thanksgiving Dinner" here soon if they keep it up. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

My neighbor raises all kinds of critters and she's recently added a pair of turkeys to her herd. Her roosters wake me up early every morning and her turkeys start gobbl'n like burglar alarms when they see me outside leaving for work and when I arrive home.

They got to where they could clear the fence and liked to hang around my BX23. I don't know what they liked about it but they would even come into the shop to hangout.

She must have had their wings clipped because they don't hangout with the BX anymore but I have noticed the female leading 3 littleones around w/ the big Thanksgiving look'n Jake strut'n around them.

The neighbor probably figured that big ole Jake would have disappeared towards the end of Nov. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yup, his name is Jake, or Tom jr, and later it becomes Tom, if he lives long enough. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This morning they were late arriving because of overcast skies. There are 3 hens and 19 little jakes of all sizes.

Ive gotten a lot of them on my place too, last year I nearly caught several little ones, just for fun while picking berries, momma was NOT impressed as she sure did a lot of clucking and strutting attempting to lead me away from the little ones. this year they were under the bridge in the creek, (nearly dry 4' across ocreek with bridge is 3' high and 8 wide by some 20+ feet long) while picking more black berries the woman met up with them scaring them off under the bridge one flew up over the top hit her danf near dead center knocked her into the creek on her but lol... she came back wanting a gun so she could get even lol... I wealked up on them 3 ~ 4 times this year already too sure can make a racket when flused out of the under brush... last year I counted some 50+ adults and wasn'ty able to count all the young, this season I have only counted some 30 or so in one group...

Turkeys on television? Yep, but they can't fly if you toss them from a helicopter! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
