New 4720 has been in at the dealer for 2 weeks. They claim they do not have all of the optional kits to complete the tractor. They are saying it could be another 2-3 weeks. Has anyone else experienced these delays.

I've heard it said before. Makes the wait for the new tractor longer than ever. Not sure what the reason would be, other than they may not be a stock item (can't imagine they'd offer options without a backup supply of at least a few) or there is a real backlog of backorders from their suppliers. But options are 'extras' and probably don't have the 'pipeline' priority that their mainline tractors have.
Not to lessen your anxiety, but last fall I selected a new toilet that the plumber said was the best thing available and was new from Kohler. Turns out, the plumber called back a week later and said there would be a 3 month wait. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif He wanted to know if I would select something else. I said 'heck no' as I'd already been talked into it being the best one. I waited, but also, the shower walls being ordered took longer to get than the toilet by about a month. So 'the best' is in demand and plays heck with availability.
Hope your parts come soon.

What options are you waiting for?

beenthere,
I am waiting for the diverter kit ( 4th & 5 th SCV), rear fender extensions, rear wiper, third SCV, and the front loader quick coupler ( like a skid steer) and front loader aux. hydraulics.

I can understand some items not being available but this tractor was ordered in Dec. 05. I find it hard to believe that this stuff has been out of stock for 2 months.

I ran into the same thing with my 3320 Cab edition. I ordered it on 10/31/05 and I did not take delivery until 1/29/06. The dealer had a problem getting the mid-PTO (which had to be ordered as on option on the 3320 cab edition), and the mid-pto control lever and the 3rd SCV control and lever. I think the problem was that the company that makes these parts did not realize the demand and were not ramp up for it.
I was quite upset at first, but after I finally got the tractor, I love it. The cab is awesome. Good Luck.

Mike,
The problem is they do not know when the parts are comming in. Its not a big problem I have other tractors, its just the principle of it. If I told my customers my completion date was going to be a month or two longer then expected, I would not be in business very long. I ran into the same problem with my Kubota RTV900. I was still receiving accessories 4 months after I had the unit. So I guess its not just one manufacturer.

It was the same for me. They had no idea when the parts were coming in. The tractor came in 12/4/05. The parts did not come in until a week before I took delivery on 1/29/06. The dealership could not give me any idea when they were coming in. I fianlly called John Deere and made a complaint and I constantly hounded the dealer. Still no answer as to when delivery would be. I was so frustrated that I cancelled my order. The dealer called me and offered me a better deal and stated that they may finally have an approximate delivery date. The parts came in a couple of weeks before they had originally told me.
I hope all works out for you.

I truly believe it is a John Deere problem. I could not play the cancel the order card, I have a lot of Deere equipment and my dealer treats me well. My dealer is very good, but says it is out of his control. I tend to believe him.
I have been trying to get info on a JD 4 in 1 bucket for two weeks. I have talked to JD twice, in person and no one can answer my questions. You get the feeling that if the answer is not right in front of them, there is no answer.
I would expect these type of problems with a low price grey market tractor but not from Deere. As we all know their not exactly giving them away. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

But you know what they say, <font color="green"> " That green paint is mighty expensive!!"<font color="green"> LOL /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I went through the same thing when I bought my Cab Tractor. However, they let me take the tractor home because the parts they were waiting for weren't high priority parts. Rear Work Lights, Rear Wiper, & Reversible Cutting Edge.

They should let you take the machine. Then when they get all the parts in, do it all at once.

That way you both will be happier.

Ran into the same problems and after two weeks in the dealer I decided to go there and see how they were coming. They were to finally install rear work lights, mmm, radio, dual mid selective control valve, 3rd selective control valve kit with extra set of hydraulic hookups on rear. When I recieved it at Xmas it only had the 300cx loader. When I got there and looked, the mmm lift was hooked up to the optional svc on the rear I ordered, and paid extra for, was no diverter (dual mid selective control valve code 7010). Maybe I don't understand what the dealer sold me. Has anyone else got a mmm, with loader and where are the hyd. lift hookups attached. My question was if I had not ordered the xtra svc or loader, where would they have hooked it up and at who's cost? Sorry if I sound upset, but Yes I Am with the Dealer.

Hey there gates, Ya I went through the same thing, I ordered my tractor in oct. got it on dec 12th (I think) and then when all of the accessories came in, they came and got it on jan. 27th, and then I got it back on feb. 10th, the hold up........waiting on the power beyond kit!! Of all things that the factory or warehouse shouldn't be out of, you would think that something that is so commonly ordered on lots and lots of tractors wouldn't be a back order item. The parts came in on jan 27th, but because my right side tire was hitting the steering cylinder I then had to wait for the additional week and a half for a new rim......a rim mind you! So ya I feel your pain. It'll get better though, I missed my tractor so much while it was away, I'm absolutly sure that I purchased the right tractor for me....lol. My girlfriend said that she is going to paint herself green and yellow and then have a deere emblem tatoo'd on her behind so that I'll spend more time with her....not sure what she meant by that......but ok...now to get her to purrr like my diesel /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Be patient, good things come to those who wait. Have a great weekend guys!

Yeah, not totally uncommon. In my case, my loader has showed up already but the tractor won't be in for another 6 weeks or so. I'm sure the deck will arrive long before the tractor as well... it's starting to feel like a loooong wait. I'm trying to wait patiently /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Crazylare1,
Talked to my dealer yesterday, everything is in except for the 4th & 5th SCV diverter kit. He tells me the kit will not ship until March 21 2006. So basically another month. I am with you on the girlfriend paint job, I wonder if that would be considered an air ride seat!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifLOL

Hey there Ron, I'm thinking that the idea of an "air ride seat" might not work. I would lose the peaceful enjoyment of being on my tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Although it was her idea to build a new pole building in the spring to put the tractor and equipment in, after her son got the garage door with the rops up late yesterday afternoon. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif. You'll be in total happyness when your new baby does finally arrive, and then the long wait will be worth it, but ya the wait can seem so long at times.

You might want to double check with the dealer that he knows the front hook to the mmm must be offset, and not the standard that comes with it to fit a fel.. , they are different. Mine found that out and again another long wait. Said they could move the support to my brush guard and I'de never notice it. Told them I would and they'de be buying another guard at their expence. Just something to watch. I expect to get what I paid a good price for and expect the same from JD and the dealer.

Tglass... I just shot my dealer an email. Hopefully it'll help from a delay... Thanks for the heads up. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
