I got a small tear in the vinyl covering the seat of my 3510.
Has anyone got a means of repairing this that'll look better than the old standby (duct tape)? Ideally it'll wear as well and be invisible. I'm sorta thinking that I'd try one of those sets you used to see an TV infomercials.

If you can take the cover off, get a piece of clear heavy weight vinyl at a fabric store. Use industrial vinyl cement according to the directions to stick the clear vinyl on the inside of the seat cover. This kind of vinyl cement is flexible and will stay that way. It works so well that the fabric will tear before the cement will come lose. The cement that I use is manufactured by R-H Products and is HH-66 Vinyl Cement.
I guess you could use a section of vinyl similar to the original if you have it. I have just always used the clear.

I work for a hospital. We have some vinyl covered rolling swivel chairs at office work stations. They get tears and splits on occassion. I take them apart and send the seat to a local store that does vinyl repairs for us at about a third the cost of a new chair. I also send out vinyl covered stretcher mattresses when they get rips or tears and have them completely recovered. They use a better quality vinyl than what came on them.

I had a tear in the seat of my 5005. I filled the crack w/ black silicon and smoothed it with a wet finger. So far it has worn better than duct tape but it is not exactly "invisible". Of course, I was never very good at arts and crafts in school so your results may be better.

I'm curious... have you priced out a replacement seat cover through Mahindra? I'd love to know the price! ;)

As good as any repair might be, this is still a tractor seat and subject to a fair amount of hot sun, rain and plain old-fashioned physical abuse. Will any repair... other than duct tape... really last that long?

When my cover goes... and I'm just amazed that it hasn't gone already the way I abuse it... if I can afford it, I'll get a new Mahindra cover. If I can't afford it, I'll get two matching Deluxe seats from TSC... one for the tractor and one for the backhoe!

I always wanted matching comfortable seats fore and aft! :) Doesn't have to have a Big "M" on it! :D

Well a horse ate my arm rest, and Mahindra doesn't sell them separately. Luckily Galen LaWall came through...he had a spare for some reason. I'll see what they say, but my dealer is pretty by the book. If there's not a part number for it, he's done looking.

If that doesn't work, I'll try the black silicone...I hadn't thought of that. I'd been looking at the kit "AS SEEN ON TV"

What about the slip over covers that come on new Mahindras? Wouldn't fix the seat, but would cover it up and keep your backside dry.
