Vintage Ford, Help ID, '44-'47?

Grand Uncle passed away almost ten years ago and cousins asked us to take care of his tractor last month. Pulled it out of his garage today and it started! It kept dying so we trailered it to our garage.

First I need to properly identify it then Im gonna start the rehab slowly but surely. Found some things out but Ive got to check the serial (later this week) to be sure. Just thought I'd post a picture to se if anyone has some tips, help, or advice. This is my second old ford, and I hope to keep her well for a very long time. Thanks for all your help.

IIRC Ford didn't go to the 8 lug rear rim until the 8N beginning in 1947/48, the 9N & 2 N had 6 bolt rear rims.

He clearly has a 2n pictured there.. without a doubt that rear hub is a rivited unit, 6 lugs!!

yup.. you are on the right track.

post the sn from the 1x4 boss under the oil filter above the starter to date the engine.

hydro pump base may have a date stamped in it too.

see if that and castings match up within a few months.

Same as yours, he is on the right track and has a pre-1947/48 Ford 2n or 9n.

You guys are the best! She has at least three coats of paint on her belly so I'll have to cut it with a razor to find the sn. I hope it has some good relief. The PTO is capped.....hoping thats a good sign.

prolly means it leaks.. no biggie though.. seal replacemwnt is easy if it needs it
