A little over a week ago I took delivery of my TZ25DA, 10LA and 54MMM. I was concerned at the time that the cut quality wouldn't be what it was on my JD LT.

This is with just the 54 CMS, standard blades and no bagger. I couldn't be happier with the cut or the tractor.

Wow, very nice...

I was considering the purchase of an MMM versus the old tow behind finsih mower for my (new to me) TC35DA. I was thinking a rear discharge unit with a wide cut would fit the bill. We have 30 acres of horse pasture to contend with which will soon be crossfenced into various sized turnouts and paddocks. I do like the idea of being able to leave the Box Blade on out back and just going to town with the mowing. We mow more than anything round here with all the rain lately and I do suspect i'll get pretty tired of swapping the blade with the mower sooner or later.

So it seems quality of cut isn't an issue, now I am just left wondering if ground clearance becomes a problem with always having the mower under the tractor. We do have some rolling land that may pose a bit of a problem.

Obviously there is going to be less clearance under the tractor when this type of mower is installed, but have you found it to be a nusiance when you try to top over hills that were previously no problem?

Haven't had any trouble with the ground clearance but my yard is pretty much like you see in the first picture I posted. I've got about 1 1/2 acres of grass and seem to mow it about 2 times a week between may and oct. I can't say that the 914 (I think this is the model # for your TC) comes off as easy the 54CMS does.

It's actually easier to remove this deck than it was on my JD Lawn tractor because you can actually see what you are doing. Took me about 5 mins the first time and most of that was trying to disconnect the drive shaft. I've attached a pic that shows some of my rear yard.

I will say that I've noticed that if you try to increase your ground speed too much you start to get some "bouncing".. not sure if that would persist on your tractor given the much larger wheelbase.

Going to start mowing my neighbors yard next week (about 5 acres) so we'll see how the 54" deck does on a much larger section of grass.
