I have been needing to rent a trencher for a while so finely the jobs piled up that it made it worth the while to rent one. About 5 years ago I rented a walk-behind trencher which was a PIA so I was determined to do better this time as I had 500-600 feet of trenches to dig. I needed to run a electric line out to the barn, run a new water line and re-bury the septic sprinklers.

After calling the major equipment rental places and pricing the walk behind and rider trenchers I decided to shop around. I stopped in at a local mom & pop rental place. He said he just got in a new trencher but had not even tried it out and to call back in a few days after they had a chance to play with it. I was glad I shopped around

It was a Vermeer S800TX skid steer stand on with a trencher attachment. It was simple to operate and light enough to haul on a single axel trailer. I made short work of the trenching getting all 3 trenches dug in less than 2 hours. If I knew it would of gone this fast I would of gone with a half day rental. Total rental price was about $250 with the trailer. Well worth it as the big rental places wanted $225 just for the walk behind.

All my trenches were only about 12 inches deep so not sure how it would do with a deeper trench.

I did get a few picture of the machine and of the trenches
