Vermeer 5410 Twine Cutting Issues

Our new baler will not cut the twine when it finishes putting the twine on. This is the second time it has been back from the dealer with no luck. Is this twine arm design the same on all vermeer balers?? I'm hoping this was just a dud from the factory as the dealer has made every possible adjustment on it. I'm going to see if we can get a different 5410 as we have had so many problems with the cutting system on this one. It is hard to cut hay when you don't know if you will have a dependable NEW baler...

I have a 5+ year old 5400 that has NEVER failed to cut the string. Has to be something simple in the adjustment. Where in KY are you? Dealer?

Derek and I are classmates at UK and he told me the issue was caused by the twine loaded wrong by the dealer. I thought I'd pass along the info.

The twine system on the Rebel 5400 is very different than the Vermeer Rebel 5410 round baler.

Ok so after 400 bales I think we have it figured out. It came down to the tensioners. We loosened them up and it started to finish the cycle and cut the twine. I have noticed that some of the twine was tough to pull out of the twine ball, this would cause the twine not to pull through the baler and you would have to get off the tractor and pull it back. The twine was Vermeer that we got free with the baler.

i have a new rebel 5410 and its been doin great so far, im in southeast texas part with very dry fields and no rain i was scared it wasnt gona pick up the short grass but it did good ,and made good lookin bales on tor of that!
