verify year on 231s MF

I am trying to figure out the year on my Massey Ferg. 231s tractor. The serial number is L12022 or L42002. i gone to different sites and the 2 that I found that talked about the serial number both have different years. One said the L was a 2001 the other says that it is L is a 2002. I need some replacement parts but don't know if its that big of deal or not. Any help would be appreciated. Also were is a good place to buy parts that are not factory direct as their cost seems extremely high.
