annoying advertiser.

Banner ads that lock up the screen until you click on them and a pillar ad that isn't pillar shaped, forcing the threads into an abnormally narrow column. I wouldn't buy anything from them if they were the last Deere dealer on the planet. We will read the darn ad...don't make it annoying.

I don't have that problem with the ads. May or may not be the advertiser.

Might have something to do with the settings on your computers too.
And I've no clue how to change them.

But the ads pay the bills here, so ...........

2. Lots of browsers support plugins, like AdBlock, or have builtin popup blockers.

Some web sites have it to where if you pay a small fee, the ads go away.

I have been getting ads in the right side that take up about 25% of the page, but no banner ads or anything that locks things up. If they pay the freight, fine.

I have absolutely nothing against advertisers, in fact I like them. Internet advertising allows companies to very narrowly focus their ad dollars on the most likely audience. I read ads on TBN and have spent thousands of dollars with them. The banner ad that locks things up is on the forum home page, or if you hit "Today's post". It appears not to lock the page unless your mouse rolls over the ad -- intentionally or inadvertently. The ad in the John Deere specific forum is supposed to be a pillar shaped (long tall vertical) that appears right of the dialogue. They are completely unobtrusive if sized correctly. As it is, it forces the dialogue into a very narrow column that makes it very hard to read and affects the entire thread, though the ad only has the depth of one or two replies.

Just an annoyance that could be avoided if Van-Wall thought more about communicating and less about getting noticed.
