I have a B7610 @ 100 hours, The book calls for 10w-30 and I am considering
using Valvoline Premium Blue 15W40. Anyone using Valvoline oil? Should I stick to 10w-30?
Thanks

15/40 diesel rated oil that meets the ASC specs should be ok as long as you aren't in arctic weather. if you are in real cold weather.. I know there is at least 1 maker of 10/30 diesel oil. And then there is always synthetic oil .. they are good for cold weather flow.
Matt, unfortunately, Kubota is far behind in updating their manuals. 10W-30 oil, rated for diesels, is pretty hard to find. Nearly everyone I know uses 15W-40. I've never used Valvoline oils myself, but the one you're talking about certainly has the proper rating and should be as good as anything you can find.
Matt - I started using Premium Blue Extreme 5W40 in my B7500 at the 600 hour service, but that was only 9 operating hours ago and it hasn't even been up to PTO RPMs since the change. Haven't noted anything - good or bad - yet. My previous 550 hours (600-50) were on Valvoline Durablend 10W30, with no complaints.
I used Valvolene 20W50 racing oil in an old Plymouth slant six for 250,000 miles, and never had the head or oil pan off of it. Still ran good when I got rid of it, no knocks or real oil useage. Sure went thru the starters 3 water pumps, etc though
Near the end of the Volares life (rest of car sort of fell apart) I stopped in a parts house looking for 20W50, and was told it would tear that engine up, I said you might be right , I have only been running it in there for over 200,000 miles
On the new stuff in a diesel, can't really say though.

Had it been easier for me to obtain...I would have used the Premium Blue in my motorhome ( Cummins ISC engine) AND the Extreme Blue in my Kubota. But either / both are a REAL pita for me to get.
Most lubricants manufacturers that make a diesel engine oil in 15W/40 also make it in 10W/30. It isn't as rare as some may think. It's just a little more dificult to find the 10W/30 in some areas. Often all you need to do is "ask" at the parts store and they can get it for you if they don't carry it. You can also order it over the phone from most specialty lubricants manufacturers and have it delivered to your door.
The grade is not that simple sometimes the oil ports in the head are tight and need a lighter grade. 15W40 might slowly affect the amount of oil at the top of engine may have effects on the longiveity of the engine.
If your parts store don't have any oil distributors will often stock it.
It will probably worth the efforts to find it. Match up the C classification someone in a previous thread mention it was up to CL or something like that.
Well my mind is more at ease reading all your response's.
I would use Kubota oil but the dealer is 20 mile away and the Napa store is 5 minute's.
I don't know if this is correct but I was told that the Kubota branded oil is really Valvoline so that is what started my search.
