My lessons all seem to come the "experience way"....
On our last 50 degree day before the cold snap I was re-arranging and receiving hay, when I "noticed" something was not "right...." My right REAR tire was flat! Geeze, the hay is on the way and I have to un-load.... this looks bad....
I grabbed an air gage to check, and when I removed the little schrader cap, the "inside connector" moved.... I had already verified that "farm-service" of tires went out of vogue several years ago, I was either going to be stuck or "lucky..." I decided to drive the tractor slowly to my air compressor and see if it would at least hold for a while.... LUCKILY, after "tightening" the inner connection, the tire worked fine... NO LEAKS for three days.... VERY LUCKY!
I am a rookie to these "modern" machines. I was suprised that the fill valves were in two parts.... Live and learn... (well maybe just live...(ha ha))!!

You can replace the valve body (the little piece that threads into the outer stem) if it leaks. Unless it just came loose, if you had to tighten it to keep it from leaking it is likely to leak again. You can buy a little package of them at the hardware store.

About the valve cores- you have to be carefull to get the right core for the steel stem as it a different size thread.
