I'm removing the valves (to lap them & clean head) on my '58 861 diesel. Except for the little cap that surprised me on the tip of the exhaust valves, they come out as expected with 2 little half moon keepers holding the spring on. However, the intake valves appear not to use a 2 piece half moon keeper. When I loosen the intake valve spring to remove keepers everything appears in one piece or pressed around the stem with only a single space where the keeper seems to be wrapped around the entire stem in a single ring. At first I though the keepers were just stuck, but now I'm not sure. What am I doing wrong and how are the intake valves removed? Thanks
