So I've got a mini articulating loader that was built from an old case trenchor. Completely hydraulic drive. I know it is not plumbed the best either. Has one pump feeding into the 2 spool valve for drive and turn then from the valve return to another 2 spool valve for the loader. It is painfully slow and weak. Had to dig a trench before and use a truck to pull it back every time I went to back out.
I know I need specs of everything and to do q bunch of calculations but was wondering if I can use a 2 stage pump from a log splitter to act as a 2 speed transmission. In the high flow/low pressure stage for cruising around/low work and low flow/high pressure stage for when I push into dirt or dealing with hills that require more power?
My reasoning is that it is not much different then a log splitter when it requires it to hit the 2nd stage for splitting hard logs.
Looking to use something like this

Have no pictures of the loader but will be redoing it soon.
