I am getting my first tractor this week and looking for a used brush hog. What should I look for when looking used? I found this one near by for $875.

Have a Brushbull just like it- i use on my 55 hp tractor

No complaints

i would check that the blades are running true and not bent

pto shaft not bent, ( easy to forget and lift it to high on the 3 point) U joints good and shaft can be collapsed/extended without binding

90 weight still in the case and not really dirty

also that no oil is leaking out of the bottom.

maybe test it or have the owner demonstrate before paying.

I have a 72" Woods that I use behind my MF135. Works great.
I think I paid more than that for mine that I bought used.

Price is a little high, but everything seems to be “ ‘cause of Covid”

New ones are around $2,000 so it sounds pretty reasonable to me.

I have been seeing 60 inchers for $500-$750, but like I said, everything seems to have increased rather dramatically

Steel prices are way up, so they are bring used prices up too.

Inflation is definitely starting to creep up

Id say that's a decent price if its in good condition (which it appears to be), price can be very area dependent on used equipment.

Prices on used equipment have really gone up in my area, I was looking for a used 6ft heavy duty box blade in the 800+lb range. Use to be able to find them all the time for under 800 for a decent one, in fact it was easier to find light duty ones or smaller ones and they commanded a higher price.

Every used box blade that fit my criteria and was local enough to make it worthwhile, was snatched up pretty quick.

Found one I liked but the price was too high so it had for sale for awhile, watched it for months and didn't sell, made a offer that was higher than I was planning and he didn't take it.
Waited a month an made the offer again, after a couple days he finally accepted it.

Paid almost double what I was hoping to pay, but after 5months of not seeing anything I really wanted in my proce range and the fact that steel prices were high enough that it would cost more in material plus my time to make one. I decided it was worth the money to me, still had to drive over an hr to pick it up.

If I hadn't gotten this box, I was going to order a new one from EA for a bit more money and just deal with the wait time.

I think used prices are going to be up for anwhile still.
