Any thoughts on a used Ventrac model 4100 gas, air cooled? I found one at a dealer but do not know much about it. Any problems with that particular model and is air cooled better or worse that liquid cooled engine? Thanks
There are some very fine air cooled engines. That said, in extended use, liquid cooled engines typically last longer and can operate at higher sustained output without failures. I know nothing specific about the 4100 series, but there are experienced users here that do. Post as much as know about the machine, its hours of use, what comes with it, its condition or appearance. Its options, such as duals, et., and the asking price.

I have a 4125 that is 10 years old. Weight transfer and rear weights have been added. I have blown snow every morning this week ranging from 6 to 12 inches and tractor handled it no problem. Other then regular maintance in 10 years, I have had to replace a battery cable and what I call the belly bar undeneath the machine with a greasable one. Go to the rear of the machine and shake the machine, if it has a loose feeling it may be going and would replace asap. I do believe the part was under 200 bucks. On cold mornings it does take a few seconds longer to start, but other then that, it is a very reliable machine. Hope that helps.
