I'm considering selling my 2002 TC40 with NH loader, 72" woods boxblade, tiller, brush hog and Rankin post hole auger, but have a few questions first. I was wondering if folks in the used tractor market are typically looking to purchase a tractor with this many attachments? If I decided to sell it, I'm afraid I might be stuck selling some of the attachments individually which wouldn't be good. The tractor is coming up on 300 hundred hours with regular maintenance and care. The box blade and auger were purchased with the tractor and the brush hog and tiller last year. The loader and boxblade have seen most of the use, with the rest of the attachments having probably less than 30 hours use each.

It's been a good machine and I have no complaints or regrets for buying it. I'm contemplating taking my business in a different direction and it's driving the consideration for selling it. I'd appreciate any input since this is a pretty big decision right now and moving forward would mean selling everything by Feb or March. Thanks everyone and have a safe and happpy holiday season /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have no idea what is "typical", but when I had to move back to town, I sold my B2710 with an ad in the Thrifty Nickel. I would have sold (but didn't) individual implements had someone wanted them, but would not sell the tractor without the implements either going first or going with the tractor. I had a couple of potential buyers who could not arrange financing, but then a fellow came along with cash and bought it all; finish mower, brush hog, tiller, plows, trailer to haul the tractor, and even the 55 gallon diesel barrel and pump. Of course he had to have his son come along with another truck and trailer to haul it all.

I believe that anyone that could afford to pay for all of it would appreciate each of those implements.
It's been my experience, and seems to be the same for many posters here that you either buy them with the tractor, or you end up with them later, so I think you'd do well to follow Bird's advice. Either sell them off first, or with the tractor. If I were buying, I'd love to have all of those at the same time.
I suspect you wouldn't get too stuck with any of it though, as there are many people looking for just those implements. John

Expect to sell for less by selling everything together, as people will be expecting package deal pricing.

I think once you sold that tractor the rest of the stuff would not go, at least not for a decent price. All of the items you have would be used by the new buyer. I think you have a better chance selling by keeping it all one package. Now if you can sell some of the attachments before the tractor that would maybe be ok and still have the tractor with the rest of the attachments.

Again you area may dictate how to sell.

It will be easier to sell everything in one package, but you would get more money selling it all individually. It would take longer selling it all individually though. Try looking through ebay prices for comps.

I just wish you lived in PA. I would buy it in a "New York" minute. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Try selling it as a package. If the buyer really does not want one or two of the implements, but will give you a good price on the rest, all the better.

I disagree. No matter what area you are in selling things as a package deal is always expected to provide deep discounts. There is also a good chance that a buyer has a different purpose in mind for the tractor, and will not need all of the equipment, and in that case they will not be willing to purchase the equipment, but will take it if you give it to them as part of the deal.

A good place to sell good used equipment at very good sellers price is at farm equipment consignment auctions. I have seen the prices of the good used equipment approach what the equipment can be purchased for if new.

Break it up for sure. I have bought and sold a bunch of tractors (hobby) and I have found that you have to include a basic implement or so to move a tractor, but sell everything else seperate, or you will be forced into a stupid package price. Just think - you didnt buy it at a package price, so dont sell it that way. Implements are like gold - very little depreciation, and always a demand. I would recommend selling just the tractor and loader; then advertise the implements seperately. That way if someone wants everything, there is a hard value to the implements.

Your area will determine what implements people want with the tractor.

You might price it with all implements and then keep a list handy of how much you would deduct for each implement they might not want. I would make the deduction for each implement a little less than what you think you can get for the implements if you sell thim individually. That gives the buyer an incentive to buy the package. A buyer who has no use for the PHD and tiller (or other imlements) may walk away if you refuse to deparate them from the package.

If someone asks if you would sell one of the implements separately have a price list for them. Tell them that you will be glad to take their name and number and will call them if the tractor buyer does not take the whole package. That may provide you a list of buyers for the equipment if you break up the package.

In East Texas used implements in very good condition will sell for 80% to 90% of what new ones sell for. Even pretty rough implements will bring 50% of the new price.

Check current prices for the implements at a dealer. If you have owned them for 2 years you probably paid less than what they would cost today because of the increase in the price of steel. I know that bush hogs have gone up about $100 in the last year or so because of steel prices.
