Hello just wondering if anyone has ever had good luck having a tractor shipped/delivered, and if so rough estimate of what it cost, I'm looking for a particular used tractor I see a lot of them further way than I want to drive to pick it up, so i was just curious, thanks

I've had a Kubota L3130 along with a new 78" snow blade delivered, on a roll-off flatbed, maybe 85 miles each way for them, and they charged me $200. Considering time and cost of fuel, I was okay with that.

If say that was reasonable, but i was looking at one around 1000 miles away, so i assume it would need to be done with a professional trucking company

I'm guessing that shipping a tractor 1000 miles will cost between $2.00-$3.00 a mile. That seems to be the going rate.

That's nearly free! Averaging 10 mpg, that's 17 gallons of fuel (nearly fifty bucks in my area), plus four hours total time for the driver, add the cost of insurance and perhaps even a truck payment, and I see no profit in that rate.

Hauling Ads - Yesterday's Tractor Co. provides a "marketplace" for hauling services. Some of the folks who offer their services may be "one-man shows." If you were lucky, you might find someone looking for a back haul.

Well i guess my 3/4 ton truck(gas engine) at 10mpg, would definetly be the way to go, Probably wouldn't make sense to spend that much in shipping

Some of the dealers on Ebay mention $1.85 a mile for shipping.

Myself and several people I know have had real good luck with a website called Uship . In 2014, I bought a 50 HP Kubota with loader that was 700 miles away. I got it shipped for $998. Uship works like an auction. You have to create a login first. Then you put in wts, dims, origin, destination and desired delivery. Within hours the bids start rolling in from shippers who use Uship as their dispatcher. In my case, I got a bunch of bids that were about $2000 and then one that was $998. I was skeptical, but after some research I took it. You are not obligated to take any of the bids. The process is so easy. You put in your credit card number, you accept a bid, the shipper contacts you, you set up the details. Then the website issues a code to you. When the shipper delivers your stuff, you give them the code. They enter the code and get paid. SIMPLE.

So, why did I get such a good deal? Tip: if your shipment isn't urgent, put in a really long date range. I didn't care if it took a month, so that's what I put in. Then you wait and sooner or later the stars will align. In my case, the shipper with the low bid had another (full price) load going along the same route, so my shipment was just cream on the top. When he pulled in my driveway with my Kubota and I saw the JD on the front, the low price made sense. That's me on the right like a kid with a new toy.

Now in 2008 I had a 45 HP tractor and loader shipped about 400 miles for under $400. The But in this is, I had bought it from a dealer and he had another dealer location 400 miles west of where I got it. He delivered/picked up between the two so it was not like it was sent directly here. In fact he passed by my place but would not offload so I still had to drive about 125 miles or more to bring it back on my trailer. The reason I did not just get it, I saved 275 miles and going east would have put me in severe elevation changes, twists and turns and I did not want to do that with my 1/2 ton truck. Heading west was nearly flat so it was much safer for me.
