used tractor buying inspection

Hey All,

I am going to check out a 2007 Kioti40SE HST with 180 hours tomorrow. I am interested in what advice anyone could give me regarding the inspection.

I have a good deal of automotive mechanical experience and am always interested in broadening my horizons!

Specifically, in low hour machines, are there any identifiable indicators of poor ownership that people look for. What in specific would you look at?

There have been several recent threads concerning the inspection and purchase of used tractors. Do a bit of research in the Buying/Pricing/Comparisons forum as well as the Kioti forum and you'll find a wealth of information.

That said, the Kioti you're going to look at is a low hour machine, so you shouldn't see any engine or transmission problems.
Operate all the controls, of course. If the seller has an implement he can rig to the PTO/3PH, that would be nice. I also suggest you ask the owner to remove and re-install the loader for you.
As far as the HST, others can provide better info then I can as I've never owned an HST (last one I operated was 10 years ago). But do remember that more pressure on the HST pedal does not translate to more torque....just the opposite.
Can't hurt to ask the seller (if a private party) why he or she is selling.

As long as you're somewhat mechanically inclined, looking over a used tractor is pretty easy, actually.

One more word of advice...if you like the tractor and it meets your needs, be prepared to put a reasonable down payment on it. Good tractors (and some not so good) sell pretty quickly. It's the old cliché "He who hesitates is lost" thing.
But don't hesitate to walk away if it's priced too high or isn't what you want.

It should be in like new condition with only 180 hours.
With such low hours if its not in excellant condition then it wasn't very well cared for.

Bought the 2007 Kioti DK40SE HST 180 hrs, $16500

It is going to be delivered in 1 HOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!
