Looking thru the Craig's List ads the other day and came across a TG1860G for sale. They say it has ~450 hours on it and has a mower deck with a 3 bagger collection system (has a fan attached).

Anybody have any experience with these units? What would a used one sell for?

Thanks,

Bob

Bob, I'm not an authority, but I've seen TG1860's in various configurations priced from $2500 to $4500. That one in your photo looks pristine, but when you look at the surrounding yard, you have to ask yourself what type of area it has been used in. You will have to look closely at the shaft drives and u-joints. Check how tight the deck spindles are and run the mower and mow with it to test it out. You can forego some of these things on a new mower, but you just HAVE to check them on a used mower. The photos make it look new, but there's no telling how old they are. I would set $3000 as a median price and go up or down from there based on my test drive. If they can't let you try it out, just walk away and keep looking.

I've have one I bought new in 2003. I don't use it much, as I've only put 80 hours on it since then. I can tell you it is a good running mower, but it is also belt driven and was know to have issues with stretching the drivebelt. I did have this issue once, but Kubota came out with a "kit" to help reduce the possibility of it stretching again. I have had no problems with it since, but once again, I have low hours on it. As far as value, that's a tough call. I have been offered anywhere from $800 to $3500 by dealers when I have mentioned trading it in. With those hours (450), I personally wouldn't pay much more the $2000-$2500 for it.

OK,

The guy is asking $1,795. They moved and no longer have the big lawn (or any lawn by the pictures). he says he "thinks" it is an '03 or '04 with 422.5 hours on it. Says that it has always been garaged and everything is original including the 60" triple blade mower and catcher. He says they only problem he has is that the belts only last for about 100 hours (2 spares come with the mower) They previously had 3-4 acres of lawn that he would cut in a little over 2 hours.

Well, I can tell you for certain when I bought mine that you could only get a 48" or a 54" deck in the TG series, including the diesel. If that truly is a 60" deck, it may not be the right one for the tractor. Is he talking about the drive belt or the mower belt?

I'll second 6dog, I believe they only came w/ 48" or for $100 more you could get the 54" - at least at our dealer. A friend of mine had the the 1860G (Kawasaki gas) and I got the diesel model. Both have been good machines with approx. 300 hrs. each now. I'd guess the gas model (if all original, good shape) w/ 450 hrs. would be $3000 tops - maybe another $750-1000 for the diesel. Happy Hunting !
P.S. The bagger was about $ 1500.00 addition to a new machine - used - maybe $500 ?
