Used L4200 GST - Good Tractor?

Okay, after almost pulling the trigger on a brand new L5030 yesterday, I just happened to come across a used L4200 last night for what seems to be a very reasonable price.

Price quoted is $11,900 for the tractor with just under 1,000 hours. It is a 1996.

I think I'm going to jump on it. The guy selling it is a tractor jockey but said that this seemed like a pretty nice tractor and the paint had been touched up in a few places but the tin was straight and everything worked fine. Said the loader pins were a little loose but not bad at all.

This is over $10,000 off the price of a new L4330 GST that I was looking at. I had about decided on the 5030 GST but this tractor is less than 1/2 that price.

I realize that this won't have the bells and whistles of the new tractors but the price for sure seems right.

Any input would be appreciated.

Here's a listing of L4200's for sale around the continent. The price and condition of the L4200 you're looking at sounds pretty good. Does it have the rear remotes?

Well I just got back from picking it up. Left here at 11:00 this morning and turned a 700 mile or so round trip picking it up.

Got it and a pretty decent trailer for $12,750.

I'll update all my threads and start a new post with pictures of everything tomorrow. It's late! (I guess it's very early to be accurate)

700 miles! You could have driven to Marble Falls and back in less than that. Where did you find it?

I got it in Sherman. The guy met me in Gainsville and we unloaded it off the trailer and drove it around a bit to try it out and the deal was done.
