It's time to replace the tires on my Kubota L3130.
I'm not sure which way to go on tire sizing, could use some advice.
The tractor was purchased used four years ago and came with the following size tires (now worn out):
Front: 10-16.5
Rear: 16.9-24
These seem quite wide to me, and the rims of course are suitably wide for these tires. But the specification size tires for the 3130 are:
Front: 7.2-16 (4WD)
Rear: 12.4-24
Are there advantages or disadvantages to having wider-than-spec'd tires on a 3130? The usage here is agricultural and pretty light -- hauling moderate weights with trailer, bush hogging, muddy conditions at times (Fiji), light tilling.
I am wondering whether to simply replace these tires as is, or convert rims and tires to the spec'd size.
I thought about maybe getting rims and tires to match those on our two L4630s so we can standardize on one size (helpful when you need a spare). The spec'd tires for the L4630 are (and this is what we have) and maybe I could get away with these on the 3130, they're a bit wider than spec but not as wide as what I've been running with:
Front: 8.3-16
Rear: 14.9-24
What would you do if you were me? Thanks in advance!

The tires you have are thr R4 or industrial tire option, the tires you referenced is the R1 or agricultural tire size.

For your uses it sounds like the R1 would be better.
As to I'd the size from your other tractors would fit, you would need to compare the rollout ratio of the front to rear for both sets, also make sure they will physically fit in the fenders, steering clearance, etc.

you'll get better traction with the larger and wider tires that it has now. more rubber on the ground, and less pounds per square inch. like the reason some people use dual wheels. or tracks..

I should have added that if you found your current R4 tires to meet your traction needs I dont see the need to change to R1 tires, especially since it would also require different wheels.

If you are getting by with well worn R4s, by getting new R4s, you should see a world of difference. The problem with different rims, like R1 is they become expensive really quick, especially if you need to have them shipped.

As suggested already you have R-4 industrial tires not ag R-1 tires. They are the appropriate size tires for the tractor with R-4 tires. To change to the R-1 tires you will need to replace the rims as well. Often when doing this a dealer should be able to order the rims and tires for you if you choose to switch for less then you can buy them seperate. I believe the proper codes are ALR8866 for the fronts and ALR8821 for the rear. These are not the part numbers but Wholegood numbers so you would need to talk to a salesperson.
