Hi everyone, haven't posted a thread in awhile. I have gotten my JD 5085M and its okay. I've been looking for another tractor to use on the farm. I will post the Specifications below.

95 PTO Hp
M FWD
PowrQuad Plus 16/16
Rear Tire, 18.4R38
Front Tire 13.6R28
All 4 Tires 100% in condition.
PTO 540/1000
2 sets of SCVs
Premium Cab; Air Comfort Seat; Cold Start Pkg; Delx Exhaust
275 Engine hours.

We are probably going to talk about the price and ask them to bring down the price to 55,00 OBO and if they give us a good price we will ask to throw in a front weight bracket and (8) 45 or 47 kg weights.

The jobs this tractor will be doing is tilling. With a Maschio C 250 (102 Inches). The required power for the tiller is 80-130 Hp. I'm pretty sure this tractor will handle it. Right now its on my JD 6715 (105 PTO) I want to put the 6715 on the 637 (12' 2'') disk because its a bit heavy for the 6420 (90 PTO) and put the 6420 on wagon work because i don't have enough tractors for wagon work.

Have you given any thoughts to upgrading a bit to a 7000 series made in Waterloo tractors?

If you like the 6000's you will love the 7000's.

Down here in south Texas they love those for haying. Don't know too much about using them for ground engagement.

Sounds like a reasonable deal to me but to play devils advocate for a moment,

have you tried out the 6420 with the tiller? Might be able to buy a cheaper tractor for pulling wagons.
Also have you considered as Duffster mentioned moving up to a 7000 series? Maybe 140 pto hp model or in that range for ground engaging work.

I think its too powerful for a JD 7630 our tiller isnt really that big.. its alittle bit wider than the tractor. We have a neighbor with a 7330 STD w/ the same tiller he used to have a JD 6430 STD and traded it in because some bum hole literally cut his rear axle and put a hole in his tire. I believe that's the story I don't communicate with my neighbors their our competitor. Have you guys looked at the pictures of tractor yet?

We are growing row crop vegetables such as Romaine, Leaf lettuce, Red leaf lettuce, Spinach, Cilantro, Green onions, Radishes etc stuff you will find in a supermarket.. 40 acres in peat 40 acres in Clay / white stuff.

That 6430 is a nice tractor but may be limited some by the transmission.

Alot depends on what other work you need this tractor for, if it were mainly to operate the tiller I would think a slightly used 2wd tractor at a lower cost would work well for this. Not every tractor needs 4x4 especially when you have several other tractors on hand. For operating the tiller you need pto hp, physical size and good selection of proper ground speeds.
