Used JD Tractors

I am looking at purchasing a 4200 or 4300 Hydro 4wd tractor with a loader and belly mower. I have found several on the internet at JD Dealers. Unfortunately none are near me and used JD tractors are near impossible to come by. I am concerned about buying with sight unseen of the tractor. Anyone have any thoughts? Are most of the units are there rentals? The two that I am looking at currently are 1999 models with 70-100 hours on them and they are under warranty until next spring. It looks as though I can use a local dealer as my go between and I may do that for the support may provide. The dealer kind of snubbed my comment on whether the units had the old axles with the scuffing problem to the new axles without it. His answer was "You asked
about the update on the axle and as of yet it is not an official program.
When it becomes a Product Improvement Program your local dealer will be able
to get full credit plus an allowance for installation of the kit."

Don't know how to take that one! What is the status of the axle problem is JD replacing them all or do you have to prove the problem to make it happen?

I found several used (rental) John Deere tractors available. They knocked off far more per hour of use than it made sense, so it is definately a good deal if you can find some in rental service. These were primarily 10 series tractors.

I bought a used tractor from a dealer I trusted. Told him what I wanted and he watched until he traded for one and then called me. First time I saw it, it was mine and parked on my property.

The dealer currently that I am dealing with is in Hendren Implement, Mooresville, IN if anyone has any experiance with them good or bad? Wen made a good point the dealer is key in the process. I have never met this dealer but they seem good and honest on the phone also they are attentive and call back. Which is hard to find in today's business world.

There is an ad in Farm Week from Valley Equipment in Newberry, IN. They have a JD4500 listed with 460 loader, 4 in 1 bucket, 48 backhoe, 72" deck for $29500.00

Well I bought the used tractor and it should be here Tues. AM. I bought a 4300, MWFD, R4's, 3svc, mid PTO and a 60" Mid Mower and 43 Loader 61" Bucket. Can't wait till it shows up. I will keep you posted on the outcome.
