Used Deere prices

Every now and then, I check out MachineFinder and Tractorhouse to see what's available in the older 4x00 and 4x10 tractors. Looks like asking prices have risen a couple, three thousand for these machines in the last six or eight months.
Anybody notice this?

Looks like my $13500 Deere 4400 is now worth about $18K to $19K...

I've noticed that the prices have not risen or fallen much from my original price that I paid new. That's the reason I bought a Deere they hold there value.. However that is a "ASKING" price.

Roy,
I priced out a new 4520 setup similar to mine last weekend just to get an idea of how much prices have changed since 2009 and was startled by the "new pricing". I am afraid it is more inflation than anything else. It seems money is worth less and less and getting harder to come by at the same time.

My brother in law is getting ready to start looking for a used 2210 or 2305. I'll let you know what he and I find.

A Deere is often a better investment than the stock market.

I know its a reference point, but these places ask the absolute highest amounts typically for the equipment. It is the dealers selling it used, not usually the owners. Sometimes, you can get lucky and find an owner selling equipment for a fair price on there.

I've been looking for a used 4x20 cab in my area for a few months and I agree. The prices that these dealers are asking is almost the same price as when the tractor was new. I have also noticed that a number of these ads are many months old. Some from last winter. So obviously they are asking too much. I am about ready to give up and buy new.

Sledge-Be patient. There are people out there who bought new with 0% and guess what?- they can't keep up the payments. Likewise when it comes to selling late model used, the minute Deere starts the 0% financing again, that serves to depress used prices IMO, if for no reason that a lot of people can't come up with the cash for used or go to the bank and get a loan- Deere on the other hand..."let's see. your body temp is 98.6...Qualified". My view. I sold a super clean 3320 with 900 hrs a few months ago that had been inside since new and maintained beyond the book- did I get what I wanted?- No. "Why buy yours when I can get new for no finance charge?"

I agree with Red Horse and would say the woods are full of people who can't get financing for a used tractor or have the cash to buy outright. This will drive down the used machines at some point.

But the point is, if you'd done a search (on MachineFinder or Tractorhouse) 6 or 8 months ago...you would have seen the lower prices. Now, the prices appear to be up.
BTW, the tractors I follow are the 4300, 4310, 4400 (I have one of these) and 4410.
