Hi all,

Just bought a new Kubota and had a rear remote installed. I'm planning on building a log splitter to mount on the 3ph and I plan to use the 4-way valve on the rear remote to operate it. Here's my question:

Do I run any risk of damaging my tractor's hydraulics and transmission if I use a used cylinder? I'm thinking of old oil, dirt and general debris finding it's way back into the unit after the first few cycles.

Will the filter catch it or am I just being paranoid?

Hi-
If you do a search for cylinder flush, there is plenty of info. Try other searches in hydraulics if you feel you need more info. Basically the drill is to remove hoses and cycle the cylinder manually. Have also read on this site techniques for purging hoses. Certainly a good idea when dealing with unknown fluids and PRICY synthetic hydraulic oils.
