Thought that it might be worth a look since it is local...
Appears to be in decent condition...
Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Looks like a few holes in the deck - are you handy to weld them up? Also looks 30+ years old, so I'd want some assurance I could get parts (blades, special bolts, height adjuster, etc.) for it.
I'd say it's worth a look, but squint a little...

I can weld it up with no issue...
If gearbox is good might be worth an offer of $800...

Check the gearbox for oil. Some pump grease into the box when the bottom seal fails due to age, wear, etc. It's a hidden defect.

Safety issue ... the PTO guards are missing. After shutdown, the shaft will be spinning just from inertia. Beware of getting caught.

Its a pull type mower which you know but will your tractor handle a 7 ft mower I know new these go for big bucks but it's not new 800 would be on high side for this mower IMHO.

It's a Bush Hog 307 pull type. IF the gearbox is sound and IF you are in the market for a pull-type cutter, $900 is not too much, but there always has to be some dickering. You gonna run that with the 1720?
Pull types are nowhere near as manuverable as mounted R/C's. And PM me with the gearbox tag number or a gearbox housing casting #. There may be an obsolescence problem with early 307 gearbox parts.

Rick beat me to it, but yep, bushhog 307 pull type. VERY heavy unit.

It looks good, but I do notice that it may be slinging out some gear oil from the seal on the input shaft. If you go look at it, check that very close, and ask questions!

whats with the barbed wire wrapped all up in the shaft?

That may be telling if there too lazy to unwind or cut the wire off the shaft what else has been overlooked?
