Hey There All,
Been a lurker for a while now. About to purchase 20 acres. 1/3+ woods, 1/3+ old overgrown pasture and 1/3- some grass/lawn/buildings/long driveway. Looking for a machine to do general chores, work firewood, clear the drive, mow and tend the pastures and a large garden. 25-30hp and 4x4 seem to fit the bill.

I've found a used b2620 locally, 4x4/HST 2010 with a little under 250hrs. Included is what looks like a 60" belly mower, 4' kodiak bush mower and a BX2763A front blade. Asking 13K.

Wondering if buying a used unit in good shape makes sense over buying new with the 0%/60 deal. I would like to get a FEL as well but that blade might come in handy for larger snow we get now and again.

Each new model that comes out will have improvements. You'll have to decide if those improvements are worth paying for a new tractor.

The more detail you can give about the tasks you want to do will help folks give you their opinion of what size machine would fit your needs best. With 20 acres my initial impression is that a B series is a bit small, but maybe not.

You didn't mention a front end loader on that used B2620...does it have one? Personally, I would not buy a tractor without a FEL!

Welcome to TBN......................

Seems to be about the going price with the included attachments. There are several 2620's on Tractorhouse in that asking price range. Most include a loader and few have the belly mower but none I saw have a snow blade or bush mower.
Some things to think are:
No warranty on used.
How was it taken care of?
Was it always serviced on time?
The 0%/60 deal sounds good but a similar tractor with the same options would be a lot more.
I'm sure some Kubota people will pop in with their views to assist you.

It does not include a FEL. From the pics and just chatting with the owner it looks very well cared for, but I haven't seen it personally yet. Mainly just getting thoughts on the new vs. used. There are both Kubota and JD dealers near me so shopping new wont be an issue.
As far as work needed, I imagine bush hogging the two old hay fields, some light mowing as there isn't a lot of lawn, maybe a couple acres max, clearing snow from 300' or so of a gravel drive (not a lot in central Ohio), I cut firewood so helping haul and run a splitter would be handy and general chores around the property, and putting in a decent garden. In the future I could possibly see having goats in one of the fields. Chickens, rabbits, ducks will happen in the spring (there is about a 1/2 acre pond too).
I have access to a big backhoe and a friend who runs it like a wizard should that ever be needed.
Talking with folks who tend larger land, they warned me about the Tier 4 emissions stuff on the newer 30+ HP equipment and were of the opinion that the systems haven't had enough time to work out the bugs and are a hassle. Their opinion was the smaller machines or older machines before all the regen systems were in place.

You really need an FEL for what you describe, and so that makes me think you'll be better off buying new and getting exactly what you want, versus a used machine that might not have exactly what you need. But if you really do need a front blade, mid-mower, and bush-hog, then price up an FEL for the 2620 and see what the total cost will be.

The newer B2601 that replaced the 2620 has some nice upgrades.

For snow removal, you may be just fine with a rear blade, which is fairly inexpensive. I use a rear blade to clear my 600-700' gravel driveway, and it does very well. It was a $350 blade from Tractor Supply. Not what I'd want for heavy dirt work (already have a box blade for that) but fine for snow removal.

Yes a FEL is something I see being very handy and would look into buying one if a used machine didn't already have it.
I also like the idea of the taller compact tractors to use in the woods clearing brush and working fire wood.

Adding a FEL is probably cost in-efficient, and it's hard to imagine not having one. One with SSQA can easily handle a front plow, a grapple for brush work, or pallet forks. All very handy stuff.

I also think it is definitely on the small side of what you will want. You might consider a used L model, depending on your total budget- a clean used tractor with the SSQA loader, like a L3130, can be found for under $15000. Remember, take care of it, and it will simply be a working investment you can mostly recover when you no longer need it.

You are talking yourself into a B2650 or perhaps an L2501 (not sure if MMM is an option on the L or if you could use a RFM.) Those models are physically bigger than a B2620. I have a B2620- I had some reasons for buying it when I did, and have been happy with it, although I would like one of the tractors I previously mentioned for the uses I have now.

I have a '10 2920, which I bought used. its a very reliable machine and would be good for what you describe. However you definitely want a FEL. You could see if you could buy one seperately, but they can be hard to get stand alone. Otherwise used is a great way to save money, these machines are built really well so warranty isn't much of a concern. The financing is a good deal on new, though I'd do the math to see what your saving VS a used one. For me mine was a year old when I bought it and I only saved about 1500 - 2k, but a few years later am still happy with that decision.

I bought mine used with 110 hours. The previous owner decided not to build in the country. It had a fel and 60 inch mid mount mower. Warranty was never an issue.

I recommend you find one with a fel.
