Hi,

The following observation was made in another thread concerning 3ph backhoes on tractors...and it got me thinking...which I know can be dangerous... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

You can find plenty of cases of guys with three point models that have had problems. It's rare to find a subframe problem.

Does anyone have specific reference to these kind of serious problems?

At the risk of being a doubting Thomas I would really like to hear them. Along with the reasons...improper installation...everything done by the book and it still broke my tractor...whatever.

There are many Urban Legends...and I wonder if this "Tractor broken in half by 3ph backhoe" is a "Rural Legend."

I would really like to know the facts...as they just might give me a reason to polish up my B2910 over the winter and trade it in on a 3430 with a BH90 backhoe come spring! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not that I would...but you never know... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Yeah, right.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Add it to the fleet and add-on to the tractor-shed!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't know of the back-hoes breaking them but I do know that the FEL's on some MF's tend to break the mount at the transmission. I was told it is most prevelant on tractors used by landscapers. It seems that the laborers speed into the pile of dirt to fill the bucket, but the force pushes the lower mount backward at the transmission mount. It's an expensive repair... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I'm with you Henro. I'd like to hear from people that have had their tractor broken, or from someone that has actually seen a tractor broken by the BH.

I've heard and read tons of stories about tractors breaking into.

The only tractor I've seen broken into was from a guy pulling a tree and it caught a pipeline and lifted the front end. He quickly pressed the clutch before it flipped and when it slammed to the ground it broke the front pivot mount off the tractor. It was a MF-35.

And for all you with inquiring minds he was pulling it from the top mount of the 3PH. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I'm with you Henro, lets have some examples. Most tractor breakage I have heard of was caused by FEL use/abuse.

I can not help you with your desire to get a bigger tractor since my B4690 backhoe has not broken my B2910 yet. Nor have I heard of anyone breaking their B27-2910 with a B4690. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Now if you want an easier backhoe to put on. There has to be one that is easier than the B4690. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Maybe a BH90? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
That would require a different tractor since it will not fit your B2910. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Rick and all,

At the risk of sending this thread off course...I must confess I washed my tractor this afternoon and did my best to get most of the asphalt that was sticking to the tires washed/scraped off.

I am growing increasingly fearful of a broken tractor! I can't believe there could be a Rural Legend. It has to be the truth. I [ and more importantly my wife] are at great financial risk.

I owe it to her to upgrade to a L3430 with BH90 backhoe! It is the least I can do for the wife. Not worth taking the risk with the B2910 and its 3PH backhoe... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"Honest, honey, I'm doing it for us...I mean for you...this will give us more financial security...it was Rick's idea...he knows about these things...We should trust his judgement...he's a smart guy..."

/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That is what you said, isn't it Rick??? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

PS...Gee, it was Ron, not Rick. Man...I'm going to keep that in my back pocket...if she hesitates...I can pull out the big gun!

And furthermore, Ron said...

It doesn't get better than this... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Henro, I have been reading these post for awhile now and I have yet to see a single tractor broken in half /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I have been follwing the post about a the wallenstein hoe for 2210JD. It looks good but with the "legend" out there how can you been sure?? I would think that if they have a engneer design a mounting kit it would be safe to use. I guess if it is Bubba out back making it fit it is a different story.(no offense to any Bubba's out there) I do like your thinking on CFO (wife) management I myself have used this approach and expressing a need for a larger member for the tractor fleet. I will let everyone know how that goes I am thinking full size utility tractor.
