Update on BX diesel leak

There is a secondary tank on the BX models that has multiple hoses connected to it. My BX2200 had to be returned to the dealer to have the secondary tank replaced because it leaked. About three weeks later it happened again. My dealer told me this past Friday that Kubota will be notifying each BX owner about the problem. This problem affects over 6,600 BX's. He also said that the new tank will be available next week.

My 2200 is also currently in the shop, with the leak, awaiting a replacement tank. Don't know exactly where the secondary tank is located, but if you have the failure, you will know it. You will find a pool of fuel left under the tractor.

My dealer told me it is a white tank with several hoses. I think he said that it is located directly under the main tank. He doesn't understand the reason the BX's have the secondary tank. The current leak is much greater than the first one. I think the leak is due to vibration of the smaller tank. The more I use the tractor the worse it gets. At first I thought it could be due to pressure in the tank that builds during use. Now it seems that it is a faulty seam in the tank. Someone answered my original BX diesel leak post stating that when he picked up his BX from the dealer that it already was leaking. He said it was a bad seam in the tank. I don't remember him stating it was a secondary tank.

I know the tank your dealer is talking about, the other day I had the mowing deck off my BX1800 and was rolling around under my tractor to see what there was, I saw a small white I guess you could call it tank. I thought it was kind of a odd way to get fuel out of the main tank . I also discovered that I have 2 fuel filters and what appears to be an electric fuel pump.

Dealer called late yesterday, my scooter is coming back this morning, WITH the new secondary fuel tank and WITH the modified hitch! (They also fixed another problem that I reported here a while back, three of the four taillight lens cover screws were striped). So… the modified tanks are arriving at the dealerships, as scheduled. I haven't received the letter from Kubota about the problem (dealer said they are forthcoming). They may be delaying to allow the new tanks to arrive at the dealerships first, before mailing, and causing an onslaught of service request (smart move).

As promised by the dealer, the BX came back today. The modified secondary fuel tanks now have cushions, which allow for give during vibration, rather than cracking. What really impressed me was the modified 3-pt hitch. The spread is much noticeable better. Haven't tried an implement yet, but it looks like life has become a bit easier. Much to Kubota's credit, they recognized the problems, and addressed them quickly.

Can you tell me more about this modified hitch. Is this an extra cost or is this something Kubota is correcting? Thanks!

Just do a search under "all forums" for 4 weeks back with the words "Sevice Bulletin". I posted all 3 pages of the sevice bulletin.
