Updated 11/16/09 on 300CX Loader Problem

I was just out clearing ice off the drives and discovered the jerky loader raising went away. It is 53 deg today, so I think it may be Hygard in the system and not Low Vis Hygard.

I called the dealer and they agree, they are going to come out and change the fluid with the Low Vis and clean the screen. Good News, I think!

Be sure and UPDATE your UPDATE and let us know if that solved the problem.

Wasn't that a brand new machine? How would the wrong oil get in there, I don't know the different characteristics of the two but if the reg hygard is just a little heavier for warmer climates I would think it would warm up by operating the machine.
Glad that it's better and the dealer is helpful.
JB.

Yes it was a new unit and I am not sure if the trans gets hot enough to warm the Hydraulics in this cold weather.

According to the Tech that was here, they are suppose to put the correct Hygard in for the area of the country it is being delivered to. But, he stated that sometimes they will run out of the correct Hygard on the line and just put in what they have. Not sure that is the case, but possibly, since this was delivered to a Dealer in Iowa, colder than here.

Hygard is more like using 15-40 vs Low Vis Hygard is like 5-30, I think.

The technical manual says the 3320 ships with Hy-Guard (J20C) from the factory. It also says that running any oil other than the Low Vis Hy-Guard (J20D) at temps below -18c (0f) will damage the transmission.

If I had a manual I am sure I would have read that. They lost the manual for the Tractor and had to order one from Deere. I haven't received it yet, but I have read the online version, I guess I just missed that portion.

The quote is from the technical manual, not the operations manual. You can buy the technical manual online for $70 (CD version). It is an amazing piece of work, highly recommended.

Mine was doing the jerky loader thing too, but better in past week. I e-mailed my dealer today. Says yeah, it is JC20, but no need to put in low viscosity unless in Alaska or somewhere where it is wicked cold. Let the thing idle and warm up a long time when cold is basic recommendation. Other thing is I have air in lines and that is still clearing up as they had to add SCV and powerbeyond and the backhoe - lots of air. It seems better as I was using it today for couple hours, but today was around 40 or so here....so that may have helped too. I hope changing the oil will solve the problem for you. I may have to do the same when "real winter" sets in.

Hi,

Can you tell me where to order the tech manual online? I have not been able to find it.

Try this;

John Deere Technical Information Bookstore - Home Page

If that does not take you right to it just do the http://techpubs.deere.com and work your way to it.

I ordered TM2138CD and TM2213CD for the backhoe. They both came on one CD. Just a couple of PDF files. You will probably want TM2365CD the one for units with a cab. It goes for $75. They shipped UPS and I had it in two or three days.

They are very detailed.
