Kubota L3130 w/513 FEL Quick Attach, Kubota RTV900
Here is a question that has bothered me for some time, I hope the knowledge base here at TBN can shed some light on it. The specifications on the L3130 HST state the following:

Overall Width (min tread):
59.8 in
Front Tread:
45.5 in
Rear Tread:
47.2 in
51.2 in
54.5 in
58.3 in

Would somebody please explain what the rear tread measurements mean? I thought one of the rear tread numbers would be equal to the overall width of the tractor (depending on tire selection Ag, R4, turf, etc.) of 59.8 inches.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The rear tread would vary with the type of tire and how they are set up. The rear wheels can be turned around and in addition there should be an additional setting on the rim to place mounting brackets for the hub. For example on the ag tires there is usually three different widths that you can come up with.

Hope this clarifies this for you.

Caylor, Here's the deal as I understand it. The Overall width (min. tread) is the minimum outside tread width with Ag tires and the rims at the narrowest setting. The tread dimension is the tread centerline. If you move up to R4 tires the min. tread setting is 52.2" and the overall (minimum) width is about 69". That's how mine is set up. The R4 tires are rather wider and even the wheel (rim) offests from the axle change, and are either wider or narrower than the Ag positions depending on the configuration. Took me awhile to read it and figure it out. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif With the R4 tires the first (narrowest) position is not usable as the tires would hit the fenderwell, so you have positions 2,3, and 4 available. The sales literature lists the AG tire centerlines you listed.

This may help if it's readable. It's from the 3130 manual.

Thanks Bug,

I pulled out my manual for the L3130 and looked at the page you scanned in, and it all makes sense to me now.

FYI for all you L3130 owners:

The outside width of your tread with Ag tires on the widest wheel setting in between 62"-63" inches. If you want a box blade to cover your rear tracks go for a 65" or 72" wide box blade. I found this out the hard way.... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I've been using a 72" BB on our 3130 with LA723 FEL with 72" bucket and that combination is perfect.

Glad to hear the 72" BB is working for the L3130. I bought a 60" BB on Friday and found out it ain't wide enough. I am taking it back to the dealer today and trading for a 72".
