Underground dog fence

/ Underground dog fence #21
My neighbor got one for his dog that was always running away. He didn't bury it, but just kind of covered it with leaves in the woods where he doesn't cut and buried pvc pipe very shallow under his driveway. His was expensive and he did all the work which was very simple, but man, that thing works! His hound won't go within about 20' of the wired area now. He told me his would work for many acres, I think about 50 or so.

I realize it costs quite a bit more, but there is a wireless unit that does the same thing. Where I live in the mountains it would have been quite a job trying to bury the wire. You just set up the unit in the house and set the signal strength and from then on it works like the buried wire type. I think it is good for somewhere between 100 and 200 foot radius around the transmitter.

A neighbor has one of these to keep a Golden Retriever, Beagle, and Cocker Spaniel on their property. It works great until the collar's battery needs replacing; but that's an issue whether wired or wireless.
