Uncle Daves Cannon..... !

Good Evenin Guys,
My Uncle Dave is a bit eccentric at times , I mean like the outhouse out in the corn patch etc... He is really into guns, shooting hunting etc but this kind of takes the cake ! I thought I would share this pic with you guys, the cannon is about 18" long and fires a 1 7/8" ball ! We havesnt fired this thing yet but I suggested we site it in on the outhouse ! He didnt like that idea ! Anyways I will update you when the moment of firing comes !

Nice set up! The father of a girl I dated many years ago had a cannon about the same size but he had his mounted in a "naval" frame. We used to have fun shooting it off on the 4th of July!

I got to play with a Civil War replica cannon a few years back. A friend has a 500 acre farm and he has a friend who is a reenactor. There are not a lot of places to practice with a cannon like that. It was a smooth bore, and we were shooting at a 4x8 sheet of plywood. It took us about 30 shots from about 100 yards to hit it.

I have always wanted one. I used to have a little contraption that I could stuff D-cell batterys in. 200 grains of fff powder will send a d-cell a flyin! If I'm not mistaken, I think a golf ball should fit pretty good in that one. Just be really careful where it is pointed.

That is awesome !! Occaisionally, i've seen similar cannons for sale and always try to convince Whats-Her-Name that we NEED one. SHe thinks that just because she has had to bring me to the hospital a couple times, that i'm accident prone and will somehow blow myself up. That looks like it would be a blast (pun intended) to me !!
